A questionable move, but by all accounts he still has a live arm and he could be an absolute bargain at this price. Also, I read this as the Jays having him locked up for 3 more years, with an option for a 4th. He was already locked down for $600K this year.

I love all this "food on the table stuff". Give me the few million McGowan has made so far and I'm sure I could find a way to feed my family.

Kid has potential and its not his arm thats hurt.

AA is thinking long term with this. If the kid becomes good we have him at a bargain.

Kid? He's probably older than most of the posters on this site...

C'mon once you're addicted to beluga and dom on your breakfast cereal, it's a hard habit to break.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but this isn't Latrell Sprewell type money here. AFAIK McGowan has never come close to cracking the $1M per year mark. I stand to be corrected.

Yes, on a cumulative basis, he's probably made a million or two by now. But I doubt he has enough to set him up for life. We don't know how much he has spent - maybe he ploughed $1M into a house and is 50% underwater on his mortgage, like so many other Americans.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I have made peace with this deal.

My thanks to satyr9, Santoki, and others.

He is out of options, and it is very unlikely that he will stay on the 25 throughout the season. Now, AA can send him down, as he will doubtless have to at some point. There is some logic to the extension
