Santos to Paternity List, Crawford Called Up

Post#1 » by augustine » Fri Apr 13, 2012 6:27 pm

From Wilner's twitter:

#Bluejays have placed Sergio Santos on the paternity list (mazel tov, by the way) and recalled Evan Crawford from AA New Hampshire.

Scouting report? AA was hyping him up the other day. Maybe he stays and Laffey goes when Santos comes back?

Initially read the topic as "Santos to Paternity Test" and thought NO WONDER he started the season shaky.

Weird they called up another lefty. Baltimore's lineup is pretty heavily right handed.

It's worth noting his splits against righties are terrible (He gets hammered) but still hes managed a low FIP (Under 2.7 since A+ ball in 2010).

Crawford is a lefty with a 92-94 fastball & a great curveball. His curveball is his best pitch & it induces a lot of groundouts.

I expect that he's going to be a regular in our bullpen if there's an injury or next season.

Here he is taking down Bryce Harper in the AFL:

Gose said that there is no question that Crawford has the BEST arm in the Jays system. AA also said that Crawford is seen as a long term piece that could be a member of the Jays pen for a long time.
