just came home and saw the SN highlights. the OF should have played much deeper to not allow the runner on 1B to score, Thames is known for a weak arm, anything going pass him in the OF is gg

How the Rays put together a hideous lineup like that and take 2 of 3 from us I'll never know.
Two wrongs don't make a right, and three rights... make a left.

No LF was stopping that runner from scoring. Thames played the ball well off the wall, didn't bobble, and got it in quickly. Lawrie didn't even bother throwing it because the runner had already scored. To have a play at the plate the LF would have had to cut the ball off before it got to the wall, which is an impossible play.

he fielded it cleanly, it just took him way too long to do so. he chases after it, the ball caroms off the wall, and he just waits for it to trickle into his glove. and then of course he overthrows the cutoff man.

bottom line, thames is a poor fielder and shouldn't have been out there anyway. he's hacking desperately at the dish now too so for now he's the goat.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

I was able to view to the last two innings. Didn't see Romero walking a congo-line of players through the first however many innings he pitched, so I didn't get the impression that we were lucky to be in it regardless. And it was almost sad to see us lose this game on a Roger-Dorn play that put a runner on for Upton's double down the line.

Whoever that was inching into the plate the entire at-bat, trying to take one for the team, I hate him. He didn't try to get out the way on any of the pitches. That's just stupid baseball. The game is too athletic now to go back to this "take-one-for-the-team" crap.

^ Actually, even Bob Uecker wasn't fooled.

It's a sorry way to win, and a sorry way to lose.

A pox on both your houses!
