Vladimir Guerrero to join triple-A Las Vegas 51s on Saturday. Blue Jays next Tuesday in Chicago?

This Vegas lineup is looking MLB-like.

Gose
Hech
Lind
d'Arnaud
Thames
Vlad
Gomes
Sierra
Diaz

It's filthy baseball to watch. Can't wait until tomorrow. I'd argue this team in the MLB would beat some teams (Pirates)

You could add The Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins, Padres and possibly Houston Astros to that list as well.

I think if Vlad gets a call it up it's a pure PR move first and foremost. It will get some casual Jays fans into The Skydome (refuse to call it The Rogers Centre) and who knows Vlad might shock the world and have a really good series.

Is there anyway to follow 51s' games online?? Either audio or video?

If you pay money you can follow them with video. Certain away games are fun to watch because they have lots of camera angles, but some parks like Vegas, have 1. You get used to it though.

I think I'll subscribe for June, and see how I like it. I can spare the 10 bucks.

Vladi better go 4-4 with 4 HR tomorrow!!

It's not an issue of bringing him slowly, it's an issue of getting him into playing shape. He didn't go through spring training this year to get his timing and conditioning. He's been brought along pretty fast - He could be in the majors within a month of being signed off the street.

The big question I have is where do we put him when he does come up. Cooper has been playing way to good to demote and that leaves Edwin at DH. The only thing I can see is to move Edwin to LF (yuck) and DH Vlad.

Regardless of how out of shape Vlad is, I'd much rather have him in LF than Edwin. And Cooper has been good so far, but it's been seven games. Let's wait another week and see how things are at that point. There are no pressing issues right now so there's no need to rush to a decision.

Going to be exciting to see how Vlad does against a guy who is very close to being a top of the line major league starter tonight.

After 2 games, Vlad has 2 hits in 10 at bats, with one of them being a double. He also hit a very deep fly ball that would have been a jack in the dome.

He also ran well, 1st to 3rd on a single easily (didn't make it look easy but was in plenty of time).

Lind is destroying the ball in Vegas (1.120 OPS, 15 RBI in 15 games) I wonder if/how that affects Vlad.

I assumed Lind was done as a Jay and watching Vlad at the MLB level was gonna be fun, i was looking forward to it.

but to be honest, Vlad is just a short term thing and wont likely have much of an impact...... best thing that could possibly happen for the JAYS franchise is if Adam Lind could reach his old form.

that would long the 1B spot

his numbers r looking good rite now

The pitching in Vegas is garbage. Its not that surprising hes doing that well.

EDIT: The pitching isnt great, and while it is surprising how good lind is doing, its not that surprising.

Yeah this is where Vlad being able to play the outfield would come in handy. You could call them both up and if Lind comes back hot, maybe AA can turn him in to something at the deadline but because they both lack versatility it's gonna have to be one or the other.

It's not surprising that Lind is mashing AAA pitching in Vegas, nor is it a sign that he'll be able to do it in the majors. He's been bad for 2.5 years. A couple of weeks in the PCL doesn't suddenly change much (and certainly doesn't change the fact that he can't hit lefties at all which makes him only a platoon player going forward anyway).

In Vlad's most recent MiLB game he went hitless in 3 at bats. He is now hitting .154/.154/.231 in 3 minor league games.

I don't think anybody said it was surprising, we all know the PCL is a hitters league, just that the fact that he is doing well mixed with his age and salary means his performance could possibly affect how we deal with Vlad.

I really want him up here. I assume a trade/injury will happen before he gets called up.
