.500 ball, a couple of games out of the Wild Card doesn't excite you enough then I take it. WTF?

Nope! It doesn't not when we got to jump 5 teams to get a spot  perhaps if we would have made some meaningful moves, i'd get a little excited!

Here's something I didn't know:

You can trade those "we make no money" picks? Why on earth would you be able to trade those and not other picks? Aren't those picks there to help small market teams build stronger farm systems? That's 100% absolutely ridiculously stupendously moronic if those are the only tradeable picks.

not sure why we traded away our lf to for a reliever when we could have traded escobar for a.j. griffin and at least get by for the rest of the year with hech and omar.

I have never seen such an absence of direction like the Jays.

It would be fitting, seeing as we acquired him last August

Yeah; the Tigers already traded theirs. The fact that a team with a $133m payroll got a draft pick to redress competitive balance issues pushes it up to 127% absolutely ridiculously stupendously moronic, I believe.

It's the inverse of having a big market owner with one of the smallest payrolls in baseball.

Took the words out of my mouth.
The remainder of this season will likely be us seeing if some of our minor leaguers look like major leaguers given opportunities.

Just like I said last year at this time,
Maybe next year.

Jays got a B- on their trades

Toronto Blue Jays
Notable additions: LHP J.A. Happ, RHPs Steve Delabar, Brad Lincoln, David Carpenter, Brandon Lyon
Notable losses: OFs Travis Snider, Eric Thames, Ben Francisco, RHP Francisco Cordero

Analysis: Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos adds more quality arms to the major league club as he tries to build the depth necessary at the upper levels to withstand injuries. Lincoln and Delabar both have swing-and-miss stuff, and the Blue Jays control them for several more years.

WT report that Soriano rejected a trade to the Giants makes me giggle. Imagine being Epstein in that situation. Finally having enough of a year that someone will eat at least part of his salary, you get it all sorted, and then Soriano still has the leverage to say no I wanna play somewhere else.

Trade restrictions of any kind need to be kept to below average salaries (really I'd just abolish them, but I don't see that either). If you want to control where you live, then you should accept you cannot be a major hindrance economically if you regress. At the very least least to keep no trade clause you need to meet performance levels, just something where you don't end up with a useless player making superstar money who also has all the control over trade activity; that's just insane.
