Before the trade deadline Phillies wanted prospects + took on NO SALARY for them to trade him.

Before the trade deadline, the Phillies made it clear that they would not pick up any of Cliff Lee’s salary in a trade and would also want prospects in return for the left-hander. Olney suggests it’s highly unlikely Lee will be moved in a waiver deal this month.

If anybody thinks they will just let somebody claim him and not revoke him off waivers they are crazy.

Dodgers claimed him and the GM for Philly laughed and said no way already.
Ruben Amaro didn't confirm or deny the reports of the Dodgers' claim on Lee to the media (including MLB.com's Paul Hagen) but said "It's irrelevant. [Lee] is not going anywhere."

CLIFF LEE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE. Maybe in the offseason but even if he passes through waivers they will want the Lansing 3+ for him and we have to eat his ridiculous salary. A waiver trade for any team is crazy unlikely. Philly is asking way too much.

At this time of the year baseball rules and rumblings get super confusing so you can't get mad at people for wanting to "sign" Cliff Lee off waivers because it is crazy complicated anyways.

PS. It's worth noting if I was Philly I would eat some salary and do a waiver trade but if I couldn't I'd just let Cliff Lee be claimed by the Dodgers. They are in no position to contend any time soon and a full out rebuild would be great with Utley, Howard, Halladay all traded for prospects. They could absolutely rake the top 100 list and have a great fresh start.

Also it makes no sense for Toronto to claim Lee even if they let him go. We could sign Grienke to a similar deal and he's younger.

Colby Lewis needs TJ surgery so unless the Jays sign him to a deal that writes off at least half of next season, I don't see him coming here.

With all the bad luck injuries we have had over the years to our Sp's and uncertainly of Romero heading in to 2013, we're going to need to acquire two SP's this winter in my opinion.

Morrow
FA/Tarde
Romero
FA/Trade
Alvarez

Next in line ; (In no order)

Hutch
Drabek
McGowan
Laffey
I really want to have a lot of depth next year if we plan of going for it, so no more Chavez or Cecil's of the world if injuries happen.
