When you haven't made the playoffs in two decades, it's hard for that not to be the perception of a franchise. The only way out is winning...not preventing garbage managers from going to Boston.

That is it exactly. Once Farrell let it be known he wanted the job, there was literally nothing the Jays could have done that would have made them look good in the situation. If they held out for too much, Boston would have went another way, and we would have a lame duck and pissed off manager as a distraction all year. Remember Isaiah and his bull turning the players against the team? The REAL mistake was ever hiring Farrell in the first place. One, because he was a pretty lousy manager in retrospect, and two, because he only looked at this job as on-the-job training for what he really wanted.

The organization needs to be blunt with whoever is coming in that if you think this is just a holding position while you wait for the manager job to open up with your current team, well think again. The new team policy should be no moves at all back to your old organization. Also insert a clause, that contact of any kind from your old team about coming back should be a fire-able offense with no compensation.
