Melky Cabrera is the steal of the offseason and you know what? I'm going to make a call right now that Cabrera ends up more valuable than Hamilton, Hunter, Swisher and Bourn. I truly and genuinely believe we got the best position player on the entire free agent market in Melky and this has absolutely no bias attached to it because I've been advocating for Melky long before we signed him.

And now there are numbers and graphs to back me up:

This guy has nearly no weaknesses. PEDs don't make you smarter. This could very well be just another 27 year old baseball player coming into his own.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

NICE as just about to ask about this. :D I'm really excited about all that's happening with the Blue Jays additions. Now to add a few more minor pieces at DH, a fifth starter and Acta as manager and I will be ecstatic.

hate canseco all you want but during his time with the jays were the best for me. that clubhouse had a chemistry at a all time high. i remember everyone from green to delgado, canseco, clemons, and cruz dying their hair blonde.

great times!

I like Cabrera and I like the signing but he'd have to play as well or better than he did in San Fran in order to come close to justifying your prediction and that was by far his best season in the majors so it's going to be extremely hard to duplicate that. For example Hamilton's career OPS is higher than Melky's was last season.

I don't necessarily think that he'll be better than all those players but I think it was a great signing for the contract in comparison to the group you listed. I think he'll outproduce Hunter and Torii is betting $10 million more over the same 2 year term.

Ryan Braun had pretty much as good of a season as he did last year but with more home runs. Just because Melky now is "clean" does not mean a fall of guaranteed. If he has something in between his 2011 and 2012 season then that will be money well spent.

Well, Braun got off so who knows if he actually stopped taking whatever he was taking.

I think the bigger thing with Melky is if he is in as good shape like he has been in recent years. Hopefully he is very motivated to prove himself after the suspension.

He got off on a technicality. Administrative mistake basically. I'm sure he was more careful this year and was tested more regularly.
