I actually mean it as a compliment. Of course I know what you meant, but you mixed your metaphors beautifully. It's kinda Gertrude Steinish.

Mad-Eye Moody wrote:AA mentioned that Gibbons is planning on giving Lind another chance vs. LHP. AA also said he's looking at options to improve bullpen and rotation depth, but they feel pretty confident with the offense. I guess that means we'll be seeing Lind full time again. Hopefully he gets a much shorter leash this time though.

That was completely blown out of proportion by the media. If you look at his full quote (go to Gregor Chisholm's webpage), it becomes quite clear that they have little faith in Lind's ability to hit full-time anymore and that they'll likely platoon him when the season starts. AA has also pretty much inferred that's going to happen repeatedly now (including bringing up in an interview how Lind still can be a pretty good hitter if you take away his PAs vs. LHP).

There's no way he or Gibbons will let Lind hack away again hopelessly against lefties like he has for the last three seasons, not with so much on the line.

Gibbons knows the value of platoons. The last few years I think the focus was on building up Lind's value as an asset since he was unmovable. Now, with one guaranteed year left on Lind's deal and the Jays wanting to make the playoffs, I doubt the organization cares about his value. They are stuck with him and hopefully will use him in the only way he can be semi-productive.

If Lind is facing lefties next season, I will be very disappointed.
