What was that pitch that Henke threw to Nixon?

I remember that Otis Nixon bunt clear as day, they've replayed it a thousand times. But I hadn't realized how hot he was up til that point. 7 for his last 14 including the game-tying single in the 9th, and he drops down a bunt with the tying run on third. Yikes.

Also pretty questionable leaving Liebrandt in the game to face Carter/Winfield/Maldonado with 2 runners on base in a tie game. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. There were so many little moments that came right back to me, like the call on Maldonado's throw into the mesh.

How about the Jays players doing the tomahawk chop during their celebration while Winfield/Carter are being interviewed?

Re-watching that 9th inning and how different things could have been if that ball gets over Maldonado's head and then his throw on the Nixon hit was so far off that one more runner could have attempted coming home to end the game right there. Had that runner at third had enough speed, I'm not sure whether they go or not but damn things could have been so different. Jays had a lot of luck to win that series.

I PVR'ed game 6 and plan on keeping it for as long as possible. Wish I had enough room
to have all the games on there.

Be nice to see Carter or Alomar or Borders throw out the first pitch on opening day

So I was watching a bit yesterday and one of the other games a few days ago. And it got me remembering....it was NOT very "exciting" back then. It was so damn nerve wracking. You just had every reason to think it wouldn't work out. This was the Jays. They were never quite good for a whole decade leading up to this. And they won their own World Series with the ALCS over the big bad A's.

As I recall, your stomach was in knots the whole time. And it wasn't until the final game was over that your jaw dropped and it was pure joy.

I think the 93 Series was more enjoyable, because we had already won. So 1st, you almost expected we'd win again. And even if we didn't, it' wasn't the end of the world, like if we had lost to Atlanta.

Around here, we haven't experience anything with the Raps. And although the Leafs did make a couple of semi-finals in the Pat Quinn era, they always seemed to be overachieving, and it would have asking too much of the sports gods to let us win.

But be aware, going into a season with high expectations is nerve wracking. First, you hope they win and carry a .600 or more record. Then, there will be those "statement" series again other good teams. But hopefully by mid season we're running away with a playoff spot. But then the playoffs.... That's real stress.
