Sounds like the majority of most hockey players

Hockey players give the worst interviews. It's a whole bunch of cliches tied together with a series of "and, uhhhhh" and adding a Y or ER to the end of everybody's names.

Not even close. While hockey players are usually the most well spoken athletes of the major pro sports, Dickey actually studied English in University. He comes across as genuine, intelligent and doesn't use cliches for days like hockey players (and most other athletes for that matter)

I think you misunderstood. He was saying that the majority of hockey players are "no-personality and speak-in-cliches-only athletes", not Dickey.
