Anthopoulos added that Oliver can’t sit around forever to make up his mind, that he can’t say to the Jays one week into the season: ‘Hey, I’m back.’

The GM said that he’d have to notify the club by the spring training report date and that Oliver would either have to file his retirement or be put on the restricted list because right now he’s on a contract.

“But we’d love to have him back any time,” Anthopoulos quickly added. “If he calls tomorrow we’d be thrilled. If he calls two days before spring training (we’d be) thrilled. Right now the lean is to retire but again anything could change.”

I'm really OK with Oliver retiring. At his age he's going to just fall apart at some point. I don't want it to be during our run. We have enough lefties to be OK.

What we really need is a RHP to push Lincoln off the roster. He's a HR machine
