Good three part feature on Gibby:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/2013/0 ... e_preview/
He said that if game one was tomorrow:
-Dickey would get the start
-Would want to split up the lefties in the rotation
-Said Reyes/Melky/Bautista/EE would be the top four in the batting order... other parts are interchangeable
-Said its a possibility that Lind would be a platoon guy

Re: John Gibbons Sportsnet Interview
Gibbons' Order:
Reyes
Cabrera
Bautista
Encarnacion
Lind
Lawrie
Rasmus
Arencibia
Izturis/Bonifacio
It's totally cogent..... MY gamble might be to swap Lind and Rasmus, but that lineup will play....
I'm a big proponent of stability, and I think he can pick something like this and stay with it.

Re: John Gibbons Sportsnet Interview
I don't see the rest as interchangeable at all. Lawrie is pretty clearly, even after last year, better than the rest. Barring Lind or Rasmus just raking in ST, I cannot see a compelling reason to hit Lawrie anywhere but 5th. Still go
Rasmus/JP/Lind/Izturis after him so you don't give an obvious and easy spot for a lefty reliever to destroy your LH bats, but there's no reason to protect Bau/EE/Lawrie from RH relievers by splitting them with a LH bat, it simply wouldn't affect coaches decisions. I could make the case for Lawrie/Lind/JPA/Rasmus instead as it specifically protects Lind from LH relievers better, but since Lawrie is better than the others, he should protect EE and there's no good reason to do otherwise.
Really if you have to have a LH bat behind EE (and again I don't see why 3 RH bats in the middle is bad as long as you have enough to split up your LH bats too), Lawrie should bat 2nd and Melky 5th, 'cause there are 5 good hitters, and everybody else (which isn't all bad, there's upside in the else group, just not as much as the top 5).

I thought it was Wednesday.
Anyways, Brunt is going to the Dominican Republic to do another "Up-Close" interview. Not sure what player though.

Props to SNET, they've done a great job with there baseball coverage. I still think it could be better, but as a hole, I think they've taken big strides as a sports network.

I have very little to do with said things... I'm just happy to see a good job being done. That said, I still think it could be even better. A great start would be a full jays post game show after every game. Have a Jamie and Greg at the Rogers Centre anchor it. Could have Jerry Howarth drop in, send off a reporter into each team's dressing room for some player re-action and carry the managers presser, bam, 30 minutes easy. I'd personally love to see that.
That said, Brunt and Grange are the top 2 sports reporters in the country, and any features that these guys do will be very good. Giving them 15+ minutes with all of our big acquistions has been terrific and has left me hungrier for more.
