The Star - "Halladay, Carpenter, Escobar had Big 3 Look"

The Lansing 3 — remember them?
Amid the dramatic retooling of the Jays lineup this winter, the futures of Aaron Sanchez, Noah Syndergaard and Justin Nicolino changed just as dramatically.
Visions of a future rotation top-three along the lines of John Smoltz, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine ended when Nicolino was dealt to the Miami Marlins in a blockbuster trade, and Syndergaard went to the New York Mets as key piece of the R.A. Dickey deal. Only Sanchez remains.
The Jays have history in this area. In 2003, their rotation looked loaded for long-term success with Roy Halladay, Chris Carpenter and Kelvim Escobar. With Carpenter and Escobar in the news for very different reasons, here’s a look at how that trio panned out.

Nothing overly insightful here (though I do like hearing more praise bestowed upon Sanchez) but it did get me thinking about those days where Carp/Halladay/Escobar were expected to be a big deal for the Jays. That being said, what rotation in Jays' history were you most excited about? Or maybe, what 'core' of young players were you expecting great things from (maybe one of their stacked outfields)? Any thoughts?

I remember being really excited when Alex Gonzalez/ Shawn Green/ and Carlos Delgado came up together amid so much hype and promise - believing they would maintain the Jays' excellence.
