Morosi article on Morneau - Bluejays

Interesting read on Morneau who states he's finally healthy, nice tidbit about the Jays as well.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/minnesota-twins-1B-justin-morneau-finally-healthy-after-series-of-injuries-ready-to-prove-himself-022013

Asked about the possibility of playing for the Blue Jays at some point in his career, Morneau said: “That was my favorite team growing up, so that would be very cool. … If I have to leave here — where I have grown up, the only organization I’ve known — then hopefully it’s (with) a chance to win. … I would prefer it to be here, with us making the trades to add guys. But (Toronto is) one of those intriguing places, where if you win you have the whole country behind you. I grew up in Vancouver, and I was a Blue Jays fan. It’s nationwide. … It would be cool, but like I said: I would rather win here.”

Could be an interesting deadline option if Lind plays like expected.

sure why not..... Jays will give him a look atleast because he is Canadian.

He is not the same star he used to be though, even though he is still not old by any standard. The concussion really killed his career. He went from MVP candidate to Adam Lind level. At this point he is a slight upgrade to Lind, when Lind is hitting ofcourse, so why not.

then theres always the chance he could recover..... he'd be a monster... i wouldn't count on it though

.255/.303/.426 career line, which is considerably worse than you'd expect from a right-handed platoon partner, but roughly 120 points of OPS better than Lind's numbers against lefties. Also, there's the bit where he's better against righties, as well.

Losing gets old, concussions affect your play and it takes at least 1 year maybe 2 to get back on track. Case in point, Aaron Hill.

Give Morneau a change of scenery on a team that has a chance at the playoffs, especially his favourite team where he would play for his country. Plus it would be 1 year and a little bit since his return; he will continue to mash.

If the price is reasonable and the Twins want to move him; AA should be all over this. Even as he is right now; Morneau is a better player than Lind - if he gets back on track and hits around or below his career average he would be a good upgrade.

Aaron Hill was concussed in 2008, had the best year of his career in 2009, and sucked in 2010 and 2011 before a good 2012 in the NL West. So I don't quite think he works for your point.
