He shouted "Mine" at Howie Clark. And it probably only worked because it was Howie Clark.

A dirty play (or the perception of a dirty play) and being hit by a pitch are different, though. I don't think even the biggest lunkhead on the Yankees thinks Happ hit Granderson on purpose. I believe Happ even tried to check on Granderson's condition afterwards. This was a common mistake that happens in baseball, and unfortunately for the Yankees it lead to an injury (whereas in most cases it usually ends up being just a bruise). Now, if Lawrie was running home and happened to football tackle their catcher causing an injury, then that's a different story. The latter could have been interpreted as a dirty play. This was pretty clearly an accident.

I mean, the Yankees could retaliate when Bautista is up for all I know, but I doubt it. Baseball retaliations are usually done when there is intent on one side.

It helps that it's Granderson and not a D-Bag type player that would actually want retaliation.

Granderson hit what, 230 last year? This may have helped the Yankees! (I kid sort of)

Sort of?

Granderson is one of the top 4-5 CF's in all of MLB. Even if he moves to LF this season, this is a massive loss for the Yankees.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

I've seen plenty of occasions when a player is obviously hit mistakenly and the team retaliate the next inning. Why, when it's clearly an accident, do they retaliate? I have no idea, but it's definitely commonplace.

The "you hit my guy, I hit your guy" stuff is pretty common within a single game (Lawrie was hit the following inning after Granderson was hit, for example), but people are fearing that the Yankees are going to try to injure Jays hitters in future games, and I think that's a bit extreme. I don't think the Yankees are that classless.

That's true. Things can boil over pretty quickly though. If the next time they play, they hit a Jay, even by accident, who knows how they will then interpret it. Over the course of a few months, or even a season, one little incident could spark more in the future. I don't think that will happen in this case (it was Spring Training and obviously an accident), but in the middle of the season, and depending on the rivalry, it certainly could.

These guys are in a union together and all understand the perils of injury, so why they would throw at each other on purpose is still beyond me. It's one of the traditions I wish would be put down.
