Another one bites the dust.
Aaron Laffey has been outrighted and opts for free agency as per wiretap:
Aaron Laffey has elected for free agency following an outright assignment from the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 28-year-old has been designated for assignment by the New York Mets and Blue Jays this month, appearing in five big league games.
... When is this roller coaster going to end? I know Anthopolous wants to build a powerhouse in the minors but these MAJOR LEAGUE players (as fringe as they may be) want to be on the big show in ANY capacity. This doesn't fare well for our club especially this early in the season. It can easily create an aura of mistrust and dissonance in our clubhouse.
AA please leave our Blue Jays alone for now. They will figure it out soon enough on their own.

So we're losing because AA is picking up guys off waivers to help the team and creating an aura of mistrust and dissonance in the clubhouse through that? Well, as far as made up narratives go, that's a pretty good one. Also something pretty easy to fix.

No, we're losing because the other teams are scoring more runs than we are. It is ultimately on our players having a slow start. Nice attempt at cherry picking though, by creating a possible obstacle as the sole cause.
However, professional sports players in general are very fickle IMO. The most illogical thing will mess up their routines. In this case didn't Laffey replace Josh Johnson for one game? What message is that going to send to him? He isn't good enough? Either he can bounce back or turn into the next Romero, another talent with shaken confidence. He's supposed to be a key part in our rotation, yet is replaced by a scrub call-in.
Actually, why not do as you yourself preach, stay the course? Our players are talented enough that they should be able to figure it out. They recently had a player's only meeting and aren't as bad as their record shows.
I predicted they would go to a slow start in another thread and start turning it around after 30 or so games. Some players are actually starting to turn the corner. No time for panic, no need for fill-ins. By September we should be at least in the wild card hunt.

Johnson was replaced because he was injured.

Was he? I didn't hear about that. Ok I'm wrong on this one but still another one in, and gone yet again.
Why not just use Cecil or call someone up (even Romero) to replace him for that start?
But still, Laffey? They sign Casper Wells to get rid of him, now Laffey, who next?

Because Romero is a long-term asset that they're trying to fix in single A and Cecil is being used as a short reliever (and is showing himself to be an excellent one). Laffey was the best option to pitch that game. The only option, really.

Must be annoying for scrub pitchers who sign with us, knowing they'll get to pitch one game and then get DFA'd

Oh, I totally agree with your first few statements there. But I wasn't the one who created that particular obstacle...you did in the original post.

That's the life of a Quad-A pitcher. They're used to it.

Hey, everyone's doing that to Casper Wells.
Seattle DFAs him after no games
We claim him and DFA him after no games.
Oakland acquires him, gives him 5 ABs (no hits), deals him to the ChiSox.
Lets see, what the White Sox do

Re: Laffey gone again, LOL
He didn't exactly take the audition and assert himself. He was replaced by the venerable Justin Germano, if he had pitched well he'd still be with the club (for the time being anyway).
The Jays gave him an opportunity to start a MLB game. Opportunities (as small as it was) like that are not in abundance for guys like Laffey. You better make sure you turn in a good performance if you get the shot.
