But at least we took a shot.

This. You'd think the way some people talk that we were 2-3 seasons away from a ring anyway with all of our prospects, and we traded it all to win this season. We've had prospects for the past 20 years and haven't even made the play-offs.

Damn you AA for screwing up the 23 year plan and trying to rush it for season 21

Even if JJ isn't re-signed, you still have Drabek, Hutch, Romero (who is completely lost at this point) and a few other pitching prospects coming back next year that could be used to fill out the rotation and address the 2b by moving Lawrie and acquiring a 3b or simply acquiring a 3b.

The only thing I don't like about this team offensively is the lack of patience and understanding situations. You don't need to swing for the fences every single at bat.

This can better be judged in 3-4 years from now. We are committed to this core of players for at least 3 years - plenty of time for them to grow together while the young guys we still do have in the farm system develop. In these years we will also have many draft picks to restock the system which was very well constructed the past 3-4 years. I still love what AA did this offseason other than the RA trade (mostly because at this time I thought the pitching was good enough). I'm happy we took the chance and ownership went for it. There's some teams out there that aren't that fortunate

And yea we lost prospects. But guys like Jose Reyes, JJ, Dickey, Cabrera are still assets that have value. Its not like we gave away assets for nothing
