Andy LaRoche looks to be coming up to man 3B. Funny how Bautista was traded to make room for "Top Prospect" Andy LaRoche in Pittsburgh, now teammates

Looks like those wanted Lawrie benched/sent to AAA will get their wish of seeing this team without a capable 3B again. Should be a fun few weeks of terrible range and poor infield throws.

Indeed, counterbalanced in all likelihood by hitting comfortably above the Mendoza line.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Their argument was to have him go down to AAA to work on his mechanics so that when he came back up he'd better help the team. No one was saying to send him down to improve the team in the short term.

Or more likely, a rise toward his career offensive norms like that of which nearly everyone else on the team has experienced in May while playing elite defense at third. Instead, we've got the no-hit, no-field combo of DeRosa/Izturis to look forward to indefinitely. Should be fun, indeed.

Assuming swing mechanics are actually his problem (and not his hacker approach), why would he be better off working on them away from the eyes of the major league coaching staff? Wouldn't he be better off working directly with the people who know him and his swing best?

The argument would be less pressure in AAA in which to try new approaches

Re: Lawrie moved to DL
I think people tend to forget Lawrie is 22-23 years old and in basically his 2nd major league season. He still has lots of polishing to do and could benefit from some time in AAA just like guys like Edwin and Doc did. If we had any sort of viable replacement for him right now, I'd be all for it.

Re: Lawrie moved to DL
never was a fan of lawrie. the cockiness and his attitude just turned me off. i was initially excited of having a canadian prospect that we would help, and one day lead this team to the playoffs, but its clear why doug melvin and gord ash gave him away for injury riddled marcum. i hope he turns it around, but if not we need to cut him loose before it gets around the league.
