Well, the doubters against Dickey do still have the fact that he got crushed in his two previous starts, and despite his performance today his numbers are well short of average, let alone the pitcher he was last year.

There is little reason to believe Dickey will continue to pitch as poorly as he did in the first 2 months.

I certainly hope so. He's a long way from having shut anyone up, though.

One good start puts everything to bed and shuts everyone up? Let me ask, what evidence do we have more of from Dickey this season, poor starts, mediocre, and good? Which one projects out more to happen right now based on this year?

Yes, he's had a great run of years the past several which suggests he should break out of whatever funk he's in but at his age and everything, there's more to support staying mediocre than returning to great and one start doesn't do that.

Good on him though today and I hope you're right and he keeps delivering cause someone from this pitching staff needs to step up and be what they even projected to be for us.

Dickey was pitching injured for most of his starts this year but if he had nothing left to give in his career(which is what many people thought when we traded for him and after having a bad start to this season) he wouldn't have pitched like he did today.

Currently projected for roughly 228 IP with an ERA of 4.66 and those numbers can get better if he keeps pitching like he is a capable of.

Perhaps, but judging pitchers with significant track records based on two months of injury-affected pitching is probably not entirely prudent to begin with.

In the 13 games he started, Dickey gave up more than 4 runs only 4 times... and had 7 quality starts while being injured. I certainly don' t blame him for our lack of success this season especially compare to our other starters...

MB also has been good in his last 5,6 starts, while JJ looked like his old self again yesterday. There are definitely reasons to believe that our starting pitchers are turning the corner(aside form Morrow). Our batters are still extremely inconsistent though... Jose, Edwin, JP especially... they showed some improvement for a few games then back to hero ball again on this road trip... just not fun to watch them bat, even though they hit the long balls...

He had an MRI on his back and neck area.

April 28th he said he had the injury for 3 weeks and was still pitching through the pain.

"I've been pitching with this thing now for about three weeks," Dickey said after allowing three runs in seven innings against New York. "I can do it and still have the results that you saw the last three weeks.

"But I certainly feel like I'm capable of more when I'm healthy. So we'll continue to take it start by start, day by day. You really only have two options, pout about it or grind it out, and I'm certainly going to try to grind it out."

Hopeful his pain is gone and we can see more performances like we did today.

That was a hell of a game by Dickey. Clearly his best start of the year. He finally looked comfortable out there and hopefully the back/neck issues are behind him. For anyone that has read his book it seems that when he can't do his side sessions while injured his control of the knuckler suffers greatly.

That double was awesome, especially past that fat toad Sandoval. How the hell do the Giants let him play at that weight? Baseball is such a joke sometimes when it comes to fitness. Hit the salad bar pal.

Basically if there is anything that can send this team on a run its got to be the pitching.
That's what she said.
