If today was the trade deadline what would your stance?

It's clear it's gonna be a tough mountain to climb for the Jays to be even considered in playoff talk. So with that in mind how would you try to turn around this team for the foreseeable future?

One move that I would make would be trying to fish a trade for Josh Johnson, who is set to be a free agent after this season. Even if he does consider signing with the Jays, would you want another injury riddled pitcher in this rotation? Surely a team will offer him a bloated contract. Wouldn't mind sending for a mid-level prospect and package him with another player such as Izturis.

I'm glad that we have another month and a half to see what we have. This team has only played 10 games with Reyes in the lineup. I want to see how this team plays when he's back. If we look okay, I'd try to keep the lineup mostly intact until next seasons trade deadline.

Johnson is a tough case. We obviously haven't seen him at his best.
1.) If we deal him now, we're certainly selling low. If we only get back a middling prospect are we better off making a qualifying offer at the end of the season and gaining a first round draft pick when he declines?
2.) Being a FA at the end of the year. The prospect of getting a massive contract has to be down, but like you say there is always someone crazy enough to pay.

I agree that I hope they can find some way to move Izturis. He's not contributing at all. I'd also try to move Darren Oliver to a contender if I could. We have enough LHP options in the pen.

Rajai is another player that might have appeal who probably won't be back next year. He might have some value to a contending team as a baserunning threat off the bench. Gose can fill his role next season while saving a bit of money.

I'd certainly be entertaining offers for everyone, but would only explore a couple of big moves seriously - unless there were some silly good offers coming back for the front end of our batting order. I'd have a very high standard in trades that break up the core and force a course change. Most likely, i'd look to attach Izturis and/or McGowan to Johnson or Lind, just to get rid of their forward salary. With the solid state of our bullpen - we even have more talent in Carreno and Stilson at BUF who won't find a place in the majors rights now - I'd consider dealing Oliver for sure, and maybe even Janssen.

My stance would be, "Why is the trade deadline so early? We have no idea who is going to make the playoffs".

Moving Josh Johnson and Darren Oliver appear to be the most likely scenarios. I doubt any team will bite on the remainder of Buehrle's deal, and the rest of the team appears to be locked in for next season. If the Jays can find a long-term (cheap) 2B option in a deadline deal, plus maybe a mid-rotation starter prospect, I'd consider it a success. Not expecting much though.

I question whether this is even a .500 team when healthy, so open to any possibilities as far as trades.

-Trade Johnson and Oliver to the Braves for Brian McAnn.
-Package Lind & Arencibia to the Athletics for Brett Anderson(FA in 2015 )

-Sign Chase Utley & Nelson Cruz

I don't really know what we can get for Lind, tried being realistic . Anderson has good stuff but he's injury prone however the idea is to replace Johnson with a good starter since we would have a hole there.

I wouldn't give up yet. Maybe with a better catcher behind the plate and at it will help, as well as some production from 2nd base. Utley is declining obviously.

Reyes ss
Melky dh
Bautista rf
Edwin 1b
McAnn c
Cruz lf
Utley 2b
Rasmus cf
Lawrie 3b

Dickey
Buerhle
Anderson
Morrow
Happ/Wang/Hutch/Perez/Drabek/McGowan/Cecil/Wang

This is unlikely but I hope they keep trying to make the team better and not have a firesale. I'm sure some big moves will happen though.
