The Star: Romero Is Going to Do It His Way

Post#1 » by Raps_Swingman » Thu Jun 6, 2013 1:43 pm

Article from The Star on Ricky Ro. He's ditching the mechanical changes and is going to pitch the way he has since he came in to the bigs.

http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/06/06/blue_jays_ricky_romero_says_hes_back_to_doing_things_his_way.html

Keep an eye on his start today. Maybe the best thing for him is to just pitch and see if he can figure out the mental aspect. Im sure his stuff is still there.

I still maintain the cause of all this is being dumped by Miss America winner Rima Fakih. Ever since then he's been really irritable. Apparently now he's dating Kara Lang(former Canadian National Soccer team player) which is a bit of a downgrade.
That's what she said.

Might be a downgrade but it's a downgrade from Miss America. Lang is an alright consolation prize.

What got him to the bigs also caused him significant knee issues which then affected his mechanics. Wish him the best, but not optimistic for Ricky. At least he has another $24 million to fall back on for him and his family.

Funny, never knew they weren't together anymore. I told many a people as well last year must be trouble in the homefront. With this news, I stand by it even more so.

It was all ultimately on him anyway. Needs to regain confidence in what he's doing.

At least you'll know now if he fails to regain his former abilities, he'll be done for good.

Romero's line from Friday. 88 pitches 52 strikes. Also picked off a runner at 1st. Not a bad start. Game was only pegged for 7 innings.

RR's problems appear to be both physical and mental and that's not an easy combination to recover from. I wish him the best but I don't expect to see him in a Jays uniform ever agai.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Ricky threw six innings of two hit shutout ball tonight. Brad Lincoln lost the game for him in the seventh.

Great news. I like what we're hearing about him the last couple weeks.

2nd straight quality start for Ricky.

7 IP, 5 Hits, 1 R(0 ER), 3 BB, 6 Ks. He was in line for the win then Joel Carreno & John Stilson got lit up.

Mechanical adjustments be damned...Ricky just getting back to being his own man. Thanks Kara Lang.

If he keeps it up, I can see us recalling him if some starter begins to slump badly in August, but more likely if someone gets injured. I don't see him back up anytime soon though.

I wouldn't call him up this year period. I think he still has a solid chance to contribute in the future, but I think calling him up too soon is a bad idea.

Ouch.
Most recent outing:

3.1 IP, 6 hits, 5 runs (5 earned), 5 walks.

Was hoping he had turned the corner.
