Finally a Blue Jays Post-Game Show with no Wilner!

Post#1 » by galacticos2 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 10:50 pm

The newest addition to Sportsnet’s already robust five-platform brand, Sportsnet 360, hits Canadian TV airwaves on Monday, July 1 with an unprecedented programming mix of of breaking news, highlights, scores, stats, analysis, and opinion, as well as live events. Beginning Canada Day at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, The Score will officially be rebranded Sportsnet 360 during the station’s first live event broadcast – the Blue Jays vs Detroit Tigers game live from Rogers Centre, starting at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

Immediately following the Blue Jays game on July 1, Sportsnet 360 will debut its newest show Blue Jays Xpress – a 30-minute, interactive post-game show hosted by Sportsnet 590 The FAN’s Eric Smith, with former Blue Jays Paul Spoljaric and Greg O’Halloran providing analysis and Sportsnet’s Michael Grange contributing to the discussion.

Don't know why Eric Smith is onboard, but no Wilner is a plus.

Him and Paul Jones are like Wilner defending their respected teams, but in a better manner. He's not as condescending as Wilner.

Eric Smith is about the last person that should be hosting this show. He has thing annoying faux-aggressive personality. I had to listen to him try and explain how Colangelo must have not liked the position he was in and the direction it was going (after a bloody month) and resigned. Just another terrible corporate shill. At least Wilner knows what the hell he's talking about.

On a side note, can anyone explain the relationship between The Score and Fan 590. I know they were bought out, but I'm confused about how they now operate. Ever since the buyout, Tim and Sid have been operating under the Score brand while on 590. How does that all work?

It was purchased by Rogers last year, and they were just finalizing the official rebrand. It's now Sportsnet 360. So it's all under the Rogers umbrella.

That's pretty mean. Rod Black is on his own island.

We need more jays talks with Tim and Sid (and wilner). The one they did on Wednesday was hilarious. The caller would ask a question, then Sid would rip him for his question or the way he asked it.

I know a lot of people aren't but I'm a fan of Tim and Sid. Their humour (and references) are perfect for late 20-somethings that grew up in the GTA. The "hashtag" from Sid gets a bit annoying at times, but I generally enjoy his schtick. They're not overly or under analytical and for the most part tell it like it is.

Love their show, I thought they would be neutered like Cabbie on TSN, but they are still good.

Rogers will probably offer a free preview now that they own it.

eric smith is a company man through and through. you'll never hear a negative word about the blue jays come out of his mouth, much like wilner.

personally, the only guy i can tolerate listening to is greg zaun as he actually offers up some interesting opinions and technical baseball talk. not always mind you, but he's the best we've got.

Got my hopes up that maybe they fired Wilner for the post game but I forgot he is far too good of a shill to ever be fired.

The good news about Eric is he'll be more honest in his opinion of the team. That's how these guys are when they're not covering their usual sports.

The problem with someone like Eric, for some people, is he won't be able to respond to caller questions in an educated way. He won't know lefty-righty splits. He'll only know ERA and RBI. But it will probably mean he'll allow callers to vent or cheer, which is what a postgame call in show should be, imo
