Just frustration for a brutal looking error. This game is definitely on Gibbons, more so for the boneheaded decision to pinch hit Bonifacio.

Gibbons did nothing wrong today. Bonifacio is a better hitter against lefties than Kawasaki and DeRosa was hurt.

Bullpen decisions were fine too, particularly bringing in Janssen in a high leverage, non-save situation.

wait Derosa was hurt? was this disclosed somewhere? and it makes you question further, did they really go into this game with 2 bench players?

Hurt his neck and yes.

They'll go into the game tomorrow with essentially one bench player if they don't remove a reliever or put somebody on the DL.

Beyond the obvious -- that Francoeur is awful and should have been out of the league five years ago -- where exactly would he play?

20 homeruns 2 years ago. still possibility he can regain his form from when he was in Atlanta. obviously he would paly in LF and have Rajai back on the bench. He also can play 3rd and 1st. With Lind's back injury hampering him again, it can help.

Francoeur has never played an MLB inning at 3rd or 1st base.

He had a good 2011. The problem is that he has had a bad 2013, was the worst player in baseball in 2012, and was bad from 2008-2010. In short, he has had one good season and five bad-to-terrible ones in the past six seasons.

And I'm not sure where you get the idea that he can play 3rd and 1st; he has never played any position other than outfield. Not even in the minors.

OK GM, oh wait.

If any GM is stupid enough to go acquire that scrub and start him on a MLB team, they probably shouldn't be one.

Stop gap options getting way more playing time than they should (especially Bonifacio) because of significant injuries to the team's core infielders. Essentially, that comes down to team need.

AA's not going out to get the worst player in baseball (-2.2 WAR in 2012-2013) to start in the outfield for us, so you might as well give up that ridiculously stupid dream right now.

Bonifacio and JPA are absolutely KILLING this teams offense.
Jays rank #19 overall in team OBP. You even swap out both those scrubs for just league average hitters and the Jays have the best offense in baseball.

Bonifacio/Izturis/JPA are the three stooges that have been killing this team. This team has to have the worst collection of infield options for Second/Third Base of the entire AL- Izturis/Kawasaki/Derosa/Bonifacio says it all.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
