The separation between his fastball and slider is excellent, and now he has a good sinker in the mix. I don't think we can say where he stands until teams have had a chance to scout his new repertoire and he sees teams for a second or third time. Certainly looks good so far. That sinker could make all the difference.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Morrow and Happ should have to earn their way back instead of offering their strap for automatic sniffing.

So long as Wang has a rotation spot, whomever returns first will have earned their way back by virtue of not being Wang.

Do you honestly think that Chien-Ming Wang, a guy who has an ERA north of six over the past five years, is actually a legitimate rotation option because he had one good start?

wang and rogers prob get 3-5 more starts at least before morrow and happ come back...more than enough time to assess their game...at least we'll have plenty of depth soon

i like rogers better than happ. give rogers happ's starting spot. move happ to the pen.

We'd have way too many lefties in the pen then - Cecil, Loup, Oliver

In 15 games for Buehrle, he has posted 1 game of 5+ inning 0 ER

In 7 games for Happ, he has posted 2 games of 5+ inning 0 ER

Happ ERA: 4.91
Buehrle ERA: 4.60

I say we still give Happ a chance.

I think Rogers is 6th on the depth chart (Morrow, Dickey, Johnson, Buehrle, Happ, Rogers), but I doubt anyone working for the Jays is worried about the problems they'll have if all 6 are healthy. And no Wang isn't on my depth chart.

Really there's a top 3 and a bottom 3 here and you could order each group in almost any order and not be wrong, but of the bottom 3 only Rogers has looked like he might be top 3 capable if he stays consistent.

At this point I think Happ is a better pitcher than Buehrle.

My 5 after AS break would look like:
Josh Johnson
RA Dickey
JA Happ
Brandon Morrow
Mark Buehrle

I like Rogers, good option as a starter. I think he will carry his success to the pen, and they might keep him stretched out (throwing after his relief appearance) for the future.

Well Esmil decided to throw 3 straight taters to the Rays and they spanked them for HRs. Outside of this rare occurance for a pitcher he was solid again. Going 6 innings, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and 2 Ks.

This is was the type of start where you would have expected Esmil to implode, He didn't have good life on his fastball and was hanging it over the plate. But he battled and gave the Jays a chance to win.
That's what she said.

6 IP, 6 hits, 0 Runs, 1 BB, 6 K's.

Esmil is giving us a chance to win everytime out. I don't think there is any question now that Wang would be the first to go. His stuff looked really good and he seems to be fearless out there.
That's what she said.

7 Innings of 1 run ball with 7 Ks and 1 BB.

Esmil is the real deal. Our stopper.
That's what she said.
