Aaron Loup and Brett Cecil stats

Post#1 » by Mak » Sun Jul 14, 2013 2:47 pm

Have you guys seen their stats?? As of today their IP, WHIP and ERA are the same.

ERA 1.94K WHIP 0.97 IP 46.1

I think safe to say Cecil is having a better season thus far. I wonder what advanced metrics say.

You'd be right on Cecil; FIP/xFIP/fWAR of 2.35/2.79/1.1 vs. 3.53/3.38/0.4 for Loup. Not a tonne of difference in leverage index, though that's largely because Cecil was being used in much lower-leverage situations earlier in the year.

Not a bad problem to have, when you're trying to figure out which of your young, sub-2.00 ERA lefty relievers with 45+ IP apiece has been better.

Yeah, I think a lot of the criticism Loup was getting early in the year was undeserved. At the time he was being overused and it showed. Aside from that stretch, he's proven to be a very competent major league reliever.

It certainly makes Oliver expendable at the deadline. There's always a market for loogy's, so they might actually be able to get a fringe low minors prospect for him.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Good find. I guess Loup should've been an all-star too.

The ASG should be closed out by Loup, Delabar, Cecil, and Janssen.

Five of the team's relievers have a WHIP below 1.00 (Janssen, Cecil, Loup, McGowan, and Perez).
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.
