Sucks against righties. So too does Boni, but he sucks from the correct side of the plate, I guess.

If we dont have a bat on the bench better than Boni this season was a waste to begin with. But i think we do.

Well, I guess Romero is going to be a topic of discussion by the Toronto media over the ASG break.

Not much else worth talking about except maybe whom to trade and DFA.

Eerily similar lines, aren't they? Would love nothing more than for him to keep it up this time (and not just because of the ridiculous Colby haters). If he does, he's likely going to be looking at a major contract a year and a half from now.

Kawasaki was (one of the few hitters on the team that could take a walk), but he's gone now for no good reason.

You mean three top twelve picks in 2015?

Man, I wish we could trade first round picks in baseball. What's the point of the Jays holding on to them? Oh no, we'd miss out on the next Deck McGuire!

Our picks in the first round proper, 2008-2013: David Cooper, Chad Jenkins, Deck McGuire, Tyler Beede (unsigned), DJ Davis, Phil Bickford (unsigned).

It's funny...we've done very well with compensatory picks, but have blown our 'natural' firsts left and right. Davis has promise, obviously, but we're probably batting 1 for 6 as a best-case.

And currently the best player among the team's four initial first round picks before that is JP Arencibia (2007) ahead of Travis Snider (2006), Ricky Romero (2005), and David Purcey (2004). Doesn't seem like a method for success.

That scouting and development team should get a raise!

Speaking of David Purcey, he's somehow in the majors right now and about to blow a game in the 10th to the Phillies for the White Sox.

Again, our scouting overall has been good; we made a lot of hay in the comp round. That's why it's so odd that our first rounders have been so bad...we've struck gold in the 50s and struck out in the teens.

Is there a chance that first round-level talents simply don't want to sign with a Canadian ball club? So everyone in the first round proper is a potential Steve Francis situation, and the Jays' only choice is to select safe signables or take a chance with high-upside hard to signs, as long as the pick is protected.

Of course, we would never hear the truth of the matter (especially from a guy like JP). Has Tulowitski ever suggested that he wouldn't have signed with the Jays, and told them so at the time?

Don't think that it factors in at all. It's a summer sport and we play in a domed stadium, so the oft-cited weather issues don't matter. And most of those kids are just happy to get the money on offer; they're going to be playing in some Podunk town in middle America for three or four years no matter who the parent organization might be.

If any GM was ever going to tell the truth about a matter like that (not that I think it's the truth, what Schad says is correct), it would be Ricciardi. He quite literally has no filter when he talks to the media. It's probably another reason why he's not gotten another job offer as a GM.

Just saw Gregg Zaun's post game stuff, they put up a frame that showed that every pitch to Davis and Jones that was hit for a homerun was in the exact same spot. Is JPA really that dumb to call for a pitch in the same spot they've been hitting us hard all year?

Don't know whose worse, JP and his inability to improve offensively and defensively or AA believing him.
