Obvious guy from PIT is the Canadian Taillon.

Let's offer Janssen, Delabar, and Lind since they need a 1B as well.

With the entire rotation needing to be revamped save perhaps Rogers who Morris identified significant problems with - talking about the closer is almost a moot point.

I don't see our closer doing when needed in Fenway or Yankee stadium under the lights anyways- need a guy with more steel.

Pittsburgh has a catcher Tony Sanchez that was the 4th overall pick in 2010. After a couple of down years he was a AAA all-star this year. He's 25 now but is hailed for his game-calling skills and defense and has always shown an ability to get on base.

Lay down the pipe. Alen Hanson could be very reasonable.

Worth noting that Joel Carreno may be ready for another shot; he's putting up gaudy peripherals as a reliever.

He looked awesome as a reliever in 2011, I never understood why they decided to turn him into a starter. I get that starting pitching depth is nice, but I'd rather have a nasty reliever than a mediocre at best starter.

An average starter >> an excellent reliever, in most cases, so you'd like to ensure that the pitcher cannot be the former before converting them to the latter.

We have a surplus of relief arms and Janssen's value has peaked. It'll suck to see him go but we need to be exploring trade options.

Taillon is unrealistic, but I'd take Alen Hanson from Pittsburgh for Janssen, or even Janssen plus a pretty good addition. He's 20, putting up .280/.343/.436 in A+, switch-hitter and should be able to stick at shortstop. Probably two years away, but we're not likely to get a MLB-ready anything unless they have a fairly low ceiling.

I would try and net a couple prospects for a few guys, then re-assess in the offseason.

I think people are too against trading for prospects right now. People don't realize prospects are like cash, they are accepted by like 90% of a teams in return for MLB talent.

I don't know about Janssen but Veres of the Astros was traded to Detroit this morning, and Scott Downs was just dealt by the Angels to Atlanta. There certainly is a market.

From what I've read/heard, his arm is pretty erratic. I think most scouts see him transitioning to second-base in the near future.

Nonetheless, I would be ecstatic if we obtained him for Janssen. Like you, I also would have no qualms about adding an additional piece (depending on what that piece was) to acquire a prospect of Hanson's caliber.
