Such a typical answer. Maybe he said that because he knows Bautista is lacking leadership issues and seems to be worried about his own #'s first and foremost, is a whiner and and has a huge ego and maybe that's not the best kind of influence in the clubhouse. Whether you like it or not these media guys hear more things that go on in the clubhouse that you'll ever hear. Its not all about stats all the time. Zaun has been in major league clubhouses for many years so I think he knows a little about how culture in the clubhouse can affect win/loss records.

And Zaun is not the only one who has called for Bautista to be traded.

Jesus, just when I think you'e made your worst post on this board you go and top it.

I don't even mind Zaun, but your posts are so full of complete bs it's impossible not to laugh.

No, Bautista's ego is not the reason that our starting pitching sucks. And yes, most good players are concerned with their own numbers...it just so happens that a player posting great numbers is contributing to the team, because hitting is pretty individualistic. Hence why many players far more moody and self-absorbed than Bautista have been celebrated World Series champions.

But none of that matters, because Zaun is just there because Sportsnet needed a Skip Bayless-style commentator feeding easily-digested pablum to a willing audience of mongs who don't like to think about any analysis more complicated than "they didn't want it enough".

IMO Zaun is usually right about the on the field stuff. Example, telling us why JPA sucks.

He's a tard when it comes to GM stuff, like discussing trades and signings.

This is his problem. He's hired to commentate but wants to be the GM. So he's got a platform from which he feels compelled to insert himself in order to somehow raise his profile as an out-of-the-box thinker. Comes of kinda desperate and cheap... jmho.

A fundamental difference between Zaun and the other commentors like E. Smith, Jack, Wilner is that being an ex-player who has made his millions, he is not as hard up for a job as these other guys. This facilitates a security to speak his mind, regardless of whether he really means it or for effect. Also, having been in the clubhouse, players meetings affords him a unique viewpoint that is not matched by commentators who have not played the game. If you have heard Jack Morris and Alan Ashby (who are explyers), they too have been critical of the Jays, when warranted.

Sometimes he's right and sometimes he's wrong (more often, I would say this is the case), but Zaun's role for SN has become nothing more than a well-paid troll and **** stirrer. He does it well.

Zaun's got the trolling thing down much better than you, for example. Way bigger platform and even more ridiculous opinions.

I have no idea what you are talking about, just wondering if you mind being face to face with Zaun as you remove from AA's nutsack.

Case in point. Zaun is much more effective in this area.

Lots of hate on Zaun! He may say stupid things at times, but just look at the Raptors crew? **** bunch of company men who hardly say anything negative about anyone in the organization they cover.

I'd take more Zauns and less Eric Smith, Paul Jones, Leo Rautins or any other homer in the Toronto sports media scene.

I'd take anyone even remotely worth listening to over any of the above. Merely being not-a-homer does not make Zaun a worthwhile commentator.

Zaun said that he's, "not paid to sugar-coat reality" so in other words he's paid to be the guy that apparently "tells it like it is". I wouldn't be surprised if the whole persona is just a character created by the production team. People have mentioned parallels with Zaun and Don Cherry so it would make sense for Sportsnet to try and capture that audience.

I personally don't care much for what Zaun says. I stopped watching the pregame shows and usually just flip the channel between innings.
