If we want to look at things optimistically, we have to consider the fact that the rest of the east is weak too. I can't see anyone running away with it. Baltimore's bullpen has been used as much as any in the majors and they're likely due for some fatigue down the stretch.

Baltimore is as hot offensively as we were in May. Its the ebbs and flows of a 162 game season. Our pitching is better then expected at this point and if we can get healthy coming out of the All-Star break I could see another good run coming up.

Also, a move for a position player (2b or 3b) would be a huge boost to this squad.

We've been saying this all season including all of the offseason. AA decided to run with Ryan Goins. We'll see if he's allowed to take on salary or if he can find a way to shed salary so he doesn't increase the 2015 obligations (a season he may very well not be around to see out).

I think it will happen. But It won't be for who we are all expecting. The pickings are slim, and I think what we end up with will be a marginal upgrade over what someone like Maicer Izturis could provide.
