When Alex was hired I liked the thought of building a strong organization like the Rays.

The lack of development of big league talent in the minor leagues may be AA's biggest failing. Right now, Stroman appears to be the best of the bunch. Syndergaard is gone and Sanchez is still a question mark. Not sure there any position players going to make the jump to the Jays any time soon.

Wait a few more years. The Jays have predominantly drafted highschool players.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

IMO, Alex has two poor tendencies: (a) he assumes that a player's peak performance is representative of what to expect from him day to day and (b) he rarely plans ahead for injuries despite the fact that his roster is riddled with guys that have rich injury histories.

I have no problem with Alex's ability to identify talent, properly price talent, monitor the market, make deals, and draft well. I'd keep him as GM based on these qualities alone.

But he's got to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with someone about (a) and (b).

Well, they've been losing money lately (not sad about that at all) but as a consequence of that, it may have affected their willingness to spend for the Jays. I guess that's the problem with a business corporation being a team owner; they're always a bad quarter away from having cash flow problems.

Ridiculous in regards to this particular season, the team is so banged up. We started struggling when Lawrie went down, and Encarnacion only added onto it, then Lind.. etc
