The real issue with this game was not the pen, it was starting Copeland again. AA has some decent options in AAA to fill Sanchez's rotation spot and he's picked the worst options (Copeland, and now Redmond apparently). That's not going to help the pen having to clean up 7 innings.
Well yes and no IMO since they were both issues. Starting copeland again was one issue. The bp was the other which accounted for 6 runs given up in the game.
Also, the fact that Showalter outmanaged Gibbons by unconventionally taking out Tillman quicker than Gibbons took out Copeland. Not saying that Gibbons is a bad manager, but that he got outmanaged. I do acknowledge though that Gibbons has a lot less bp options than Showalter.
Cecil has just flat out stunk this year which isn't helpful with Jansen's departure. Loup has not been great either. The Jays are really weak in the bp lefty department.
The Sanchez injury has really taken momentum away. Redmond hasn't been that bad in the past at spot starts but based on stats this year, would rather see Doubront.
