OT: Pan-Am Games - Baseball

Post#1 » by Brew666 » Tue Jul 7, 2015 2:53 pm

Anyone know of any prospects worth catching at the games this month?

I'm planning to catch a game or two but not too familiar with most of the players (let alone finding actual rosters for Cuba and the Dominican). I was planning to catch the Cuba v. Dominican game and hopefully a Canada game as well.

I know Albers, Francis and Shane Dawson will be on Canada, but are there any other Jays prospects playing?

Any info or recommendations are appreciated!

I remember reading that article about Scott Richmond a couple days ago, and I think he's on the team. Hardly a prospect though, haha.

On another note, I got tickets to the Men's Fastpitch medal games. I recommend checking it out. Faster paced and a better game IMO. I may be slightly biased since I play against some of those guys.

Thanks, maybe I'll check it out. I've never seen a fastball game before but my friend's dad (Pete Landers) was considered one of the best the fastball pitchers back in the day and I grew up with stories of his pitching days and the size of his arm, haha.

Yeah, it's not all that popular, but southern Ontario is where all of the best talent comes to play. The Hill United Chiefs (in Six Nations) have the best team in the world, with a lot of their players signed from overseas. They have the #1 pitcher in the world for the past few years, Adam Folkard. I watched him pitch in Kitchener last year and it's just insane.

Also, Team Canada just won the ISF World Championship in Saskatoon. So on a nice little streak heading into Pan Am.

I actually liked the tie-breaker rule. I'd implement something like it in MLB if a game remains tied after 10 or 11 innings. No need for these five hour marathon games. The fans leave before it's over.

Regular season....why not do that every time? It's far more exciting and its enticing for the fans who usually wouldn't stick around knowing the game could be going on way past their bedtime.

Hockey has gone through numerous changes to make the games end quicker in the regular season with more entertainment value. We live in the ADD era and only the baseball purists want to see games decided in 13 innings. Plus it will save arms in the bullpens.
That's what she said.
