Jays Nearly Completed Carlos Carrasco deal

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to hunt for pitching as the non-waiver trade deadline approaches.

They are still in talks with the San Diego Padres about both starters and relievers.

Toronto nearly completed a trade with the Cleveland Indians for Carlos Carrasco recently. Carrasco could have been a long-term fix for the Blue Jays. He's signed through 2018 with team options for the next two seasons.

This would have been a move similar to the Donaldson trade. I wouldnt have minded a big price tag here. Just not Hoffman or Stroman

Who cares man. It's all BS. A trade is a trade. A non-trade is a non-news-story.

Why does this come up every single day on mlbtraderumors? I agree with Dagger, who cares. Almost like the Yu Darvish stuff..

To me, "News" of a non-trade is like the guy who suddenly pretends to be busy when the boss is walking towards his desk. Maybe the Jays will do something, but I am only interested in actual deals, not in stories about things that were "close". I'm sure hundreds of trades come close to happening, but if they can't be completed for any reason, it's just hype to make someone look good.

Other GM's aren't dimwits, they know and understand that our window is closing rapidly and will extort us as such. It all comes down to this, do you want to give up some prospects and dance with this current crop? Or do you want to nurture our farm and hope they bring us success when two decades of failure dictate otherwise. People are always so positively infatuated with some kids coming up, like they will be Moses leading us through the red sea to salvation, and not just another bunch that will have us playing meaningless baseball for another 20 years in each September tilt. I'm so sick and tired of this pathetic franchise - but go on, and tell me how these kids coming up will change our fortunes. I'm sorry for my negativity, I attend games throughout the summer, watch most games on the tube, and when I hear people talk about not wanting to mortgage the future for the present, I throw my hands in my face and say, what past accomplishments lead you to believe this franchise will build a winner going forward with the farm when they didn't bust out the wallet when everybody and their mother knew our starting rotation was a pathetic mess this past summer? I know I'm not bringing any revolutionary thoughts to table, I guess I just need a place to vent my frustration is all.

"We'll give you Boyd for Carrasco."

"No thanks, I'd rather keep my job. Goodbye."

"Damn, we almost pulled off that deal."
