Potentially a good buy-low candidate? Or is Joba finished?

Ugly numbers in Detroit, dumpster diving at its best.

If we were in the market for guys with WHIPs pushing 2 I would have sooner seen them take a second tour with Frasor. It's buy low on a minor league deal but the guy really doesn't have a track record of success. He had an ok year last year but it's still not much to hang your hat on.

Yeah, hoping he doesn't reach the Majors with the Jays. He's not an upgrade over anyone they currently have in the pen.

He is fortunately gone. He got DFA'd after pointing up in the air on a HR ball he allowed and then asked for his release.

So they weren't interested in Frasor, but were interested in Joba? Odd.

I don't see this signing as a sign the Blue Jays are interested in paying for a contender this year. Three games out of a WC a spot, but it looks like they've said this is the team. I hope I'm wrong.

I remember watching him while growing up when the Yank's screwed him over trying to convert him in to a starter. Too bad he didn't pan out the rest of the way, hope he gives jays some quality innings

Nothing can really be read into it beyond the fact that he was available, and there's no such thing as too much depth. He isn't holding a roster spot; there's nothing lost by doing so, and while Joba's not particularly good that's okay if his primary job is to exist if half the 'pen gets injured.

Just another body but he's a name. He'll go the way of Coke soon enough.

It seems just a couple years ago that he, along with Hughes, Nova, Coke and Kennedy were going to take over the rotation/pen for the Yankees. What happened to them lol
