I don't like that we have 9 games left against the Red Sox (3) and Rays (6). The Jays really haven't been a good road team this year either so they really need to step it up tomorrrow.

They've been good on the road since Tulo/Price trades though.

I hope that the crap the bed performance vs the Sox was simply them looking ahead to the Yankees (and same with the Yanks dropping 2 vs Orioles). Didn't we also sweep the Sox earlier this year at Fenway?

Doesn't excuse the pitching though. Both Hutchison and Buehrle have been our worst performers lately.

This series was all about starting pitching. We only got one good performance and two horrendous ones. You're going to lose 2/3 in the majority of cases.

The offense has bouts where they seem to string together a couple of 2-out rallies but fail to deliver that really clutch hit. Most teams have that issue but it seems exacerbated for the Jays especially when they don't hit home runs. I'm not worried about the offense. They'll get their runs somehow but as the season winds down and the playoffs begin, we can't afford the types of starts Buehrle and Hutch are giving us. No offense is good enough to overcome those.

This is kinda a panic post.

You have to play somebody, somewhere in the final 4 weeks and playing weaker teams out of the playoff race who are testing out young players is still a easier route than playing teams still playing balls to the wall trying to make the playoffs.

As for the road record? The Jays have been excellent both home and away since the current team was constructed so looking at their road record for the entire season doesn't really paint the correct picture. We swept the Yanks in NYC just 4 weeks ago and followed it up with a record breaking sweep in Anaheim against another playoff contender.

I think Pompey was saved for base running which made sense.

I'm wondering why Dickey didn't pitch the 7th thought. He was only at 80 pitches I think.

Why save Pompey for base running if you might never get the chance to use him. Did come in till the 10th.

He has to be a better fielder and batter then EC.

EC has actually been a more successful hitter in the majors this season. Pompey hasn't really hit in the majors for months so you also have to factor that in.
