It's like Gibbons just hung him out to dry.

I'm pretty sure Walker visited the mound... I think it was 3-2 or 3-3 at the time.

Price should not be considered an "ace".
And in playoffs you don't even leave a legit ace in if they start struggling & its the 3rd time in the lineup. Batters adjust (better chance they read the pitcher and can anticipate what is coming) and pitchers wear down (don't have their best stuff), its a receipe for increased odds for the Batters. A ace, gets you to the 7th inning in good shape for a playoff game, he doesnt need to solider to the 8th or 9th.

Our real ace is Stroman, and even then I wouldnt want him pitching into the 7th inning for the stated reasons above against good playoff teams.

In what world is Daivd Price not an "ace" He's going to win the AL Cy Young and is a top 10 pitcher in the game.

Gibbons' move clearly showed a lack of trust in anyone in his bullpen outside of Sanchez/Osuna. Otherwise you would have seen Lowe or Hawkins come in.

3rd time through the lineup/fatigue is a fair argument. But in the moment Gibbons left in an elite pitcher to get through it. I don't think its that terrible of a move in the moment. Talking about it now, it clearly didn't work out.

The tag line for an "ace" is driven by the pitchers potential to deliver you games in the playoffs, not solely on you're ERA and wins. He is a very good pitcher but not a playoff ace. His record does show that. He is given the title of ace by the media, hopeing he becomes that, but it hasn't actually been earned. Its very questionable if he wins the Cy as well.

So by that argument Kershaw isn't an "ace" and Wacha is a bum. Playoffs are a smaller sample size and Price is an elite pitcher who hasn't delivered quite yet.
That's what she said.
