Davis in RC would be great. Imagine a lineup of Revere, Donaldson, Bats, Edwin, Davis, Tulo, Martin, Pillar, Goins/Travis .........
lol insane
We need pitching though. Badly... I hope We can sign 2 legit starters + Estrada and beef up the bullpen ... not sold on Hutchison and throwing Sanchez in the mix if we have World Series aspirations - that should be #1 on the list. Getting Davis would just be gravy (although I think its wise to add more hitting even after the great offensive year last year) history shows it doesn't always happen the following season.

So much power indeed, but a high strikeout rate. And we do need pitching more than anything.

Honestly lol he would be able to put up 55 HR+ in the Rogers Centre...doesnt he always kill us in there? Imagine him playing 100+ games in there lol...Thats a scary lineup to think about..forget the pitching haha. We wont need that if we put up 10 runs a game.

Davis is a Boras client, I highly doubt he signs here. If he did then Edwin would probably be traded for Pitching.

The Jays, certainly under Beeston, haven't liked dealing with Boras traditionally. Not the other way around. Boras will champion for the best deal for his clients, regardless of city. Shapiro, on the other hand, has had no problems dealing with Boras so I would no longer disregard the chances of any Boras client signing here from now on.
But I agree. I doubt the Jays would be going after a Chris Davis, at the money he'd command, if there weren't plans to trade one of their top sluggers for pitching.

"To earn a compensatory pick, a free agent must have been either signed before the arbitration deadline in early December, or offered arbitration by their former team but still signed with another team."

Since he was traded to Toronto during the season, we get no compensation pick.

Would we get comp picks for Bautista and EE next year if we offered them the qualifying offer but they sign elsewhere ?

Yes; all one needs is for the player to have played with the team for the entirety of the preceding season, and receive a QO. Those comp picks pale in comparison to what they'd return in trade, but it's one route (along with allowing Estrada to walk this year and avoiding pick-tied free agents to replace him) to start rebuilding.

**** your asterisk.
