If Floyd pitches the 8th inning today as he should have, we probably win. Such a pity.

Almost as disappointing as our woeful bullpen is our inability to come back from any late innings deficit, ever. They just roll over if we don't have a lead by the 7th.

Is Storen done or is he just overrated?

Well..... at least they gave Girodo a HL situation in what would usually go to Cecil.

Didn't pan out but happy they tried something new.

Yep, I had a lot of concerns around the Ben/Storen trade (mainly with our LF situation should Saunders suck), but Storen being this crappy was not one of them. Lol

Bad series loss. We gave this game away.

I don't know if he's done, but he looks absolutely nothing like the guy with the Nationals and should stop being used.

This is reminding me of Sergio Santos :noway:

I always thought managers don't make much of an impact overall unless they are really bad. Gibby is making me think otherwise. This loss gotta be pegged on Gibby.

It's not dissimilar, except Santos got hurt. They've actually been lucky that what happened today hasn't happened more often with as poorly as Storen is pitching. He was very close to blowing Friday's game too.

What's the solution?

I was hearing on the radio they said Cecil is looking like he is coming into his groove again and long term they aren't worried about him, but they are really afraid with Storen, and this was before Friday's game, and now two more games and the fears seem to have merit.

We're about two weeks away from Storen getting shut down for the season with some kind of shoulder/elbow surgery.

The solution is to use Chavez more against righties, Cecil more against lefties, and Floyd more overall. And then wait for the relief ace Sanchez to return to the pen once his innings limit is met. That's all they can really do. Throwing games away with Storen at this stage when everyone can plainly see how he's pitching is simply unaccepable.

They were comfortable enough to put him in with a 1 run lead, though I have no idea why after Friday's game. The bullpen is in shambles right now.

Marco Estrada: 2.39 ERA, 1-2 record after 6 games. Jays have scored 10 runs total over those 6 games.

I see unacceptable used a lot with reference to the Jays and the root problem every time is the manager.

It seems like every game there's at least 1 poor decision made, or an obvious blunder due to lack or practice or accountability that contributes to this team losing. I could go back over almost every loss and point out at least 1, some obvious and some subtle. Trusting Storen with a 1 run lead falls under obvious.

If someone told me our starting pitching would be this through May 7 before the season, I would have said we'd be comfortably atop the division. Too bad all our big bats aside from Donaldson are performing below their career norms, and in some cases disturbingly so.

There wouldn't have been so many bullpen meltdowns so far if the bats were doing their jobs.

On the positive side, very pleased with Saunders so far, and Pillar has really come roaring back after a rough start.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I don't understand why he didn't just bring Osuna in to start the 8th. How more high-leverage can you get than an 8th inning 1-run lead against a team with Kenley Jansen ready to shut the door if you give up a run??? Obviously it's not because you're holding him for a save situation, because he was brought in two batters later still with 0 outs in the 8th inning. So clearly "high leverage" trumps a save situation. But why is the threshold 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the 8th inning???? I'm not buying this "he's no different than other managers" nonsense. If you're gonna use Osuna in the 8th with no outs, do it properly. No excuses for how other people would have done it. Don't wait for the entire house to be up in flames before you decide to call for the firetruck just because that's what all your neighbours did.
