We were the best team in baseball last year and it wasn't even close. Not quite as good as that so far this year, but let's just get to the playoffs and hope the crapshoot goes our way this season.

This can't be true! I've heard from several Jays fans this year that our team sucks and isn't good enough to win this year.

But the question is, where do we rank with Sanchez relieving and Pitcher X starting?

Do the orioles have a really bad schedule the rest of the way? How do they project to drop so badly down the list

Most people don't realize what a crapshoot the MLB playoffs are. The trick is to get there and then cross your fingers. Of course avoiding the play-in game helps a ton. Adding the 5th playoff team remains MLB's worst recent decision.

Compare this to last year's August 1st, that certainly wasn't the narrative before Price and Tulo trade

I don't mind it at all. I just don't like how it is executed. It shouldn't be a 1-game winner take all to decide 162 games of season. It should be a best of 3 at least where each team gets a home game.

The Orioles are playing above their talent level right now. They aren't a very good team.

Doesn't their starting rotation have an ERA of 5+?
It's hard to outhit people every night when your pitchers give up that many runs on average

Sure. But since they didn't do that it never should have been done at all.

I think it would be too much travel to give the 2nd wildcard a home game. What they could do though is give the 1st wildcard all three games at home. If the 2nd wildcard can win 2/3 on the road then fair play to them.

No they actually have a very lax schedule to end the season.
