Let's be honest here, for a long time they never gave fans a reason to get behind them. One time in 20 years they were in contention for a playoff spot (3-4 game out for a wildcard spot) and that dream was done around labour day.

I'll rephrase, when given a team that is a realistic contender does anyone have better fans?

Maybe if the fans supported them financially with sufficient revenue, the organization would have been able to match the Yankees and Red Sox payroll and field a decent team.

Can you think of any losing franchises that have consistently had good attendance? I can think of the Cubs and the Red Sox pre-2004, who are historic teams that play in national historical landmarks, although even Fenway and Wrigley selling out is a relatively recent thing. This whole "bandwagon" label is ridiculous. We have had one of if not the best online presences since the beginning of the internet; we have a great traveling fan base; and we broke attendance records during the few years when we had what could be called a good ballpark, which is like 6 years out of our 40 year history.

While you make a good overall point about the fans of losing teams, you also picked out two groups thst don't meet your argument hence suggesting that those teams almost certainly have better and more loyal fans than the Jays.

As rabid as Jay's fans look now it's hard to call them the best in the league when they only started showing up again 13 short months ago. I'm sure other fan bases that suddenly contend for 1-2 seasons have had similar spikes in both the number and the craziness of their fanbase. maybe this is a new and improved Jays fanbase but we'll need a few more seasons including some non contending years to judge that. N

I don't understand your point. I said only the Cubs and Red Sox have been "losing franchises" (Boston was a loser in the sense they hadn't won a WS since 1918) with consistently good attendance, mostly because of their park and history. No other losing franchises have had good attendance or a reputation for great fans. There's absolutely nothing unique about our bandwagon fans. Throughout sports, only historic teams enjoy loyal fan bases and in baseball the ballpark is another aiding factor.

I have a question around attending games in other cities when the Jays play. On TV it seems the jays fans are all sitting in the same section. How is this coordinated?

I'm planning a trip to the west coast and if the schedule lines up, I want to take in a game with the jays on the road but to sit with fellow fans.

I've been to Jay's - yanks games in Toronto where there seemed to be more yanks fans. Yanks items were even being sold by vendors walking in the aisles. Disgusted me.

Come on dude nobody's going to show up to see a team get spanked. They didn't return to the post season and weren't even close since 1993. That's management's fault.

So you want the fans to be considered the best in MLB even though they don't support average/bad/medicore teams. OK.

What makes us the best fans is that we travel around to different stadiums all the time and mostly are louder than the fans that are actually there.

For going on 1 full season now. Impressive.

If you were at The empty Sky Dome these past several years for any Indians, Orioles, Tigers, Bosox or Yankee game you would find a similar result. Some nights Red Sox and Yankee fans appeared to outnumber Jays fans. Blue Jay fans are far from the only fans that show up at visitor parks.

No that's incorrect it actually started 2 years ago that they actually started going out in NUMBERS to other parks. Yankees and Red Sox fans can be found anywhere. There Yankees fans here in Toronto that I've seen. Blue Jays don't have fans like that except for in maybe Florida. Again you are not understanding my point. They support here is the best you can here it from other announcers and players across the league. If you actually went to the game or watched it on tv whats the difference? It comes down to paying for a ticket with money that you worked hard for. Nobody wants to spend there money on a crappy product when you can just watch it on TV. Yankees or Red Sox have barely ever been that bad. They have so many fans because they continue to put a product on the field for people to watch.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
