I don't understand why everyone is jumping on the guys that are somewhat upset by this slump. I mean do slumps happen over 162 games? Sure and do things balance out over 162 games? Sure. But that still doesn't mean this slump isn't coming at the worse possible time, that there's no indication of it ending and that we completely wasted a good opportunity over the past 6 games to put distance/hold on to our lead in the division. The team has put even more pressure on itself to now perform in these head-to-head matchups with Baltimore and Boston. And clearly the Yankees are no pushover.

Some of the reaction may be over the top and too much of a panic but there's still reason to be concerned and disappointed in the recent performance.

There's still time to correct this and they are still right there, but they have to turn it around quickly. 2 out of 3 this weekend is a start.

Sure, I get that, but there are a number of team offensive stats that are down year over year, so it's not just a blip. This may be a slump compared to good runs this season, but the water level, so to speak is lower. The highs and lows this season are lower.

I don't think anybody is annoyed by concern, frustration and disappointment. It's the "season is over" crap or "game is over" in the 3rd inning crap, or the "good teams don't do X" crap, or the "Gonna get swept by Boston" crap that's annoying. The through the roof pessimism is too much.

And we still have a chance in this one.

I'm all up for that, but the problem is we had two of our best pitchers pitching yesterday and today. Secondly, if we are going to depend on winning at home, then go out and stink on the road, we are basically going to end up going .500 or worse the rest of the season.

The projected starters are Estrada/Porcello, Happ/Rodriguez and Sanchez/Buchholz, and we have a slight advantage due to more home games to finish the season (13 compared to the Orioles' 11 and Red Sox' 10), so I still like our chances. We obviously can't afford to be swept again, but with a four-game series against the Angels coming up next weekend while the Red Sox play the Yankees four times, we should be in good shape to make up for the horrible week we just witnessed.
