Liriano had the best numbers in September out of the starters and the O's don't hit lefties well. It would be scary if he turns back into a pumpkin on Tuesday though.

I think you've gotta roll Stroman through their lineup twice and then get him out of there and have Liriano go in

don't get all the hate for the kid after his effort yesterday and shutting the door today.

It's not hate, it's fact. Osuna was lights out for the first 4 months and then pretty shaky the past 2 months. He blew 3 saves in a row just last week

But yes, he definitely came through the past 2 days. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the playoffs.

Does anyone think Osuna's struggles sometimes come from overuse? I know people have been harping on Gibbons for leaning on him so often. I haven't really tracked his velocity too closely over the season though.

Who have you heard harping on Gibby for overusing Osuna? I actually think Gibbons babies him pretty good. Gibbons is one of the best managers in MLB for not overworking any of his pitchers and you generally hear people gripping that he takes his guys out too soon or doesn't use his top bullpen arms enough.

Most pitchers have both good and bad stretches of the course of a season and I don't think Osuna is any different.

Right here, in these threads. Osuna appearances always bring about some debate in here about how often he's used during any given span.

I don't "feel" like Osuna is used more than the average closer, personally, but he's arguably been trotted out in even more high leverage situations this year than last year, and we've played a lot more close games this year as well, especially in the past 2 months.

I think those debates are generally people wanting Gibby to use him more often rather than less. Gibby won't use Osuna on 3 straight nights and some fans argue that he should. The counter argument is generally that 2 straight days is enough.

Pretty much every debate in here about Gibby and his management of the pitching staff generally revolves around him taking guys out too early and not using his top RP's often enough. The starting staff had Zero complete games this season and he rarely used his top RP's for more than 3 outs in a game. Osuna pitched for more than 4 outs in only 2 games all season.

Yeah, I think I'd prefer Liriano vs O's on Tuesday.

We had him up yesterday, so I dont know if that means he wont be starting tomorrow
