Re: Games 4 and 5 - 4:07 start
We're up against the Cubs and Dodgers, the 2nd and 3rd biggest US markets. Add in that everyone is Cub crazy and I don't know how anyone is surprised/upset by them getting the best time slots. I'd be worried about the people running baseball if they didn't schedule it this way. I think they worry a bit too much about overlap and should have the games at 5 and 8 but other than that this was a no brainer.

Agreed. As a Jays fan basically exclusively I'm actually more likely to watch the other game if it's already say, the 5th inning right after the Jays game ends.
Start the Jays games at 7 and the NLCS at 9 (Chicago is central so it works perfectly).
Personally i dont say "i need to rush home to watch team A vs team B" even if it is the WS. I only watch my team - the Jays. MLB is stupid when it comes to their playoff times. Could careless what happens in other series and if i did i would be able to watch the end of the game or pvr it.
I would probably only watch the last few innings of a WS in a potential deciding game. Watched the last 5 minutes of the Cavs-Warriors. Watched the last couple minutes of the Penguins winning the cup because i like Kessel if i didnt then i dont think i would have. I usually watch the entire Superbowl because i am at a superbowl party and its only one game. And i didnt watch the Royals win the WS because i was still sour they beat us but i normally would watch the deciding game but at that point all those games are at 8pm and not competing with others.
Unless i have my head in the grass i think no one is watching any games prior to the WS outside of the fanbases. And it makes even less sense; the actual fanbases cant watch their own team play because they are at work or commuting to get home so they lose viewers. Idiots ruining the league - idiots.
Yeah, you definitely have your head in the grass. A lot of people just like the sport(s) and want to watch as many playoff games as possible, regardless if their favourite team is playing or not.
I think that's a pretty small segment of Jays fans though.

Just make it 5/8 or 6/9 or how about just have both series play on different days? Smh
Yes, let's make it possible for teams to consider going with a 2 man rotation.
If anything baseball needs to find ways to reduce days off instead of adding them. There should be no more than 1 day off in any 7 game series.
No off-day following travel is a bad idea. For example, the LA-Chicago travel would be rough.
There are several east/west games during the season without an off day (they just make sure the game the day before is started by 4, so teams can travel at a reasonable time). Also remember that the starting pitcher on a travel day often leaves the previous day.
Why do we play the regular season with 5 man rotations and accept schedules that allow teams to consider 3 man rotatiuons-- might as well take an extra 30 days off during the regular season as well.
Remember that there is already 1 travel day per series in my proposal, just not 2. That is enough -- one of the cross country trips results in a rest. The winner will still have at least another one day rest after the series is over. That's 2 rest days over 10 days which is more than enough for baseball, and you would not be asking for trouble.

Teams play back to backs in the NBA/NHL seasons. Does that make it a good idea for the playoffs? Teams play Thursday night football in the NFL. Does that make it a good idea for the playoffs? The answer is no for all of the above, including baseball.
The playoffs are different. You don't play 3-4 games at the same place in a row.
Teams also usually play 12/1 o'clock games, not 4 o'clock games when they have a long flight. Furthermore, playoff games run longer and have longer media sessions after.
3 man rotations are incredibly rare. If teams want to go on short rest, more power to them...

2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

That's exactly another point; how do you expect good ratings for a 4pm game when people in PST it is 1pm (the middle of a work day) or 4pm in EST (end of the work or you are commuting to get home). So by having 4pm start times you have less possible viewers because they are at work AND on top of that you have fans of those local teams missing a good portion of those games (Cleveland and Toronto). Stupid scheduling because a 4pm start time accomplishes nothing.
You dont have to look much further than deciding game ratings vs non deciding game ratings. Or even start of a Superbowl vs the end of a Superbowl - usually if you arent a fan of either team in a deciding game then you are usually tuning into the end of the game. I am not saying there arent fans who watching an entire series or an entire game - its just the exception not the rule.
What i am saying isnt earth shattering. If it were all about having more viewers then why doesnt the MLB have 1pm and 4pm regular season games? They need the local markets to watch and buy tickets so they need people off work to do that. Same idea should be for the playoffs, cater to the local markets.

Bruh.....
Not a huge basketball fan
Love the Raps so once they are out i stopped watching
Hate LeBron so dont want to watch him
When GS was up 3-1 i thought the series was done
If my team isnt in it then i dont see the need to reserved 4 hours of my evenings to watch 2 teams i could careless about or an outcome that wont affect my rooting interests. How i feel about all sports. If my teams arent in it then i am not watching from start to finish. If i am home and there is nothing better on TV then i might put on a playoff game if my team is not in it as background noise.
