I wonder if the Jays would look at Ben Revere to platoon with Upton in LF? He was dreadful last season but his speed and high average LH bat could be attractive and of course it would by some goodwill with the fan base.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Realistically I see

Votto
Encarnacion (if he's willing to settle for an it less)
Cecil
Morales
Maybe Feliz
Navarro

You've got them adding 3 DH/1B's and they still need to fill LF and RF. Doesn't seem like the likely route.

One down! :)

On what would be a cheap deal I wouldn't oppose it. Worst case he is a fast guy off the bench for pinch run situations. Something the team will likely need a lot with Morales.

The Jays aren't getting Votto. I get that his contract is big but he's been incredibly productive the last two years. He isn't coming cheap even for a team eating the entirety of his salary.

What about Pompey ?

They should consider using him in corner outfield and just play him. That would save the team some budget to get a good right fielder or pitcher.

At this point if he can't make the team next season they should consider trading him as part of a deal to get someone good.

Anyone have an idea of what the price on a pitcher like Tony Watson would be on the trade front?

Pompey should prove he can hit AAA pitching before he's given a full time MLB job. And if he can't make the team, which is pretty certain, he really doesn't have a lot of trade value. Unfortunately DP is a fading prospect.

The other part of the equation is the Jays will have $$ to spend in the budget if they let both sluggers walk so why not spend it on someone who can hit?

I would have preferred him over Morales but he will cost quite a bit more I think.

So Reddick is gone. Other OF options?

Apparently we have interest in Rodriguez to play in the OF/INF

Much better options like Fowler(free agent) and Eaton (trade) are available.

Fowler would be great. Good defense and a good contact bat.

Heyman reporting Jays have "strong interest in Fowler: Also mentions Bruce as an option..

The Toronto Blue Jays, knowing they may end up losing right fielder Jose Bautista this winter, are showing a strong interest in free agent center fielder Dexter Fowler, sources tell FanRag Sports.

Fowler became a free agent this winter after, like Bautista, turning down a one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer. With his former team, the Chicago Cubs, announcing the signing of outfielder Jon Jay on Tuesday night, a return to the World Series champions appears unlikely.

Fowler would provide the Blue Jays with exactly what they need: a top-of-the-order, left-handed bat that will get on base, set the table for the still-formidable middle of the order, and play average defense; at the very least, he’d likely be a defensive upgrade over Bautista.
