League steps up a league to join Blue Jays
By Allan Ryan
Brandon League hasn't recovered all of the 10 or so miles an hour that strangely went missing from his fastball this spring, but enough of them to make his way back to the Blue Jays.
"I definitely learned a lot of new things," League said of his nearly five-month comeback through extended spring training and three minor-league levels. "Like throwing other stuff than 100 mile-an-hour fastballs."

Litsch beats odds, BoSox
By Allan Ryan
Against almost all odds, the 22-year-old redhead helped beat 12-game winner Josh Beckett and the rest of the mighty Red Sox 2-1 for a split of the four-game set you'd have been pressed to bet a dollar on.
Consider:
Coming off 11 days' rest since last airing it out on July 3, Litsch was up against the guy who'd won Tuesday's all-star game.
Against the team with the best record in baseball (tied with the Angels) and one of its best offences.
Against a team that stood a major-league best 20-7 in the daytime this season

Yum yum at the Sunshine Girl.

Stupid 11% success rate at throwing out base stealers. I remember Jamie Campbell mentioned during the commentary that Jason Phillips' success rate was 0.48% :o
