most likely scenario is they revamp rogers centre.
there is no land left in downtown to build big baseball stadium.
What would it take for the Jays to get a new baseball only park???

Instead of the 23,000 or whatever the Jays were bringing in, they'd have been pulling in like 15,000 (or maybe less) if the stadium wasn't so convenient and central.
Renovations should be fine as long as the plan is to slowly transform this stadium into something resembling a new one, where the last step is renovating the outside or at least changing it to look like something else from the exterior.

Maybe we should hire Jeff Loria to scam Toronto into using billions of tax payer dollars to build a new stadium?
But in all seriousness Rogers Centre is pretty much exactly what you would build if playing indoors with a retractable roof. April and October both sometimes have snow/weird weather. I believe due to great lakes we get more precipitation than most MLB cities even if it was warm? (Could be wrong).
The only reason for the renovations isn't even due to the RC being old, there was a new rule that came into play recently where revenue sharing has to go back to stadium upgrades and other related expenses instead of into Rogers pockets. Technically payroll counts as well, but I believe teams have found a way that stadiums make more sense financially (also Rogers owns RC, so putting it towards upgrades helps with the hundreds of other events as well).
I love the idea of an outdoor type field in either Toronto or close by (Mississauga maybe) which is outdoor and we use it for a good weather months, but I doubt we actually build one for that purpose unless Rogers gets a trillion dollar donation towards Jays facilities.
