Jays have DFA'd Aoki and recalled Campos. Campos was already on the 40-man roster, so this conceivably opens up a spot for a December callup not on the larger roster yet. I believe someone (Schad?) speculated that Jansen doesn't have to be protected this winter, but a blogger I read says otherwise. Smith Jr, Alford, Hernandez and Ramirez are all on the 40, so it isn't likely an outfielder has to be protected. And Urena and Borucki are on the 40 already.

Aoki one of the few guys getting big hits lately. Smart tanking move to get rid of him.

Think I was wrong; for some reason I was certain Jansen was a 2014 draftee, but he was taken in 2013. Yeah, we're going to have a major 40-man crunch.

Yeah the 40-man is going to be interesting. There's some low hanging fruit in Campos, Dermody, Tepesch, Valdez, Refsnyder and Ceciliani (currently on 60-day). Then there's guys like Bautista, Barney, and Montero that are pretty much locks to not be back. Then you have bubble/uncertain guys like Maile, Lopez, Estrada, Loup, Goins, Harold Ramirez, Smith Jr., Pompey and Koehler. Gotta keep one backup catcher and one starter from that group. Probably Goins too, unless we can get a better utility man. Personally I'd love to ditch Morales to open up another spot.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some quantity for quality trades in the off-season.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

In favor of?

Montero has been terrible, just like every other backup catcher we've had for years. I'd actually like to see Lopez get a little more time for the remainder of the season, just to see if he can come around a bit. We already know what we have in Montero.
