I have seen this before. We make a great run at home to climb out of a hole and then we go on a road trip. That's where everything goes downhill.
I hope I'm wrong but i see us going 3-6 or something like that. We need to go 6-3 if we are planning on contending for the wild card.

This happened last year, didn't it? I remember because I was house-sitting for someone out here in Victoria (who happened to have digital cable and a big screen

I can see it happening again... maybe the fresh air will help Vernon's bat?

Last year the Jay's were surviving on great offence and no pitching.
Most thought with the return of Burnett and Chacin that it would be enough to climb out of the hole. Burnett hurt himself again and so did Chacin. There was no meat to the middle of the staff like they have now with McGowan and Marcum.
The offence bottomed out, too, with a billion double plays being turned.
This time, the team has been injured even worse than last year, the offence has been nonexistent (but is showing signs of breaking out).
If Frank Thomas and Wells keep it up--look out. We could be seeing a Delgado Wells streak from a couple of years ago--but this time with a bullpen and pitching.
We KNOW they have a half decent staff and relief core and all the injured players are returning at the right time.
Still, it's now or never. The next 25-30 games are all against divisional opponents or wild card hopefuls directly ahead or behind us. In a nutshell, this stretch coming up pre and post all star game until the end of July is the season.
Let's see what we're made of.

Yeah they lost out West badly. Capped off by a BJ blown save in Oakland due to a Milton Bradley walk off bomb to centre field.

It would be nice to hear that JP is looking into Beurle- could you imagine Halladay, Buerle, Burnett, McGowan, Marcum? Eeeks.
I wish, seems like a bit of a pipe dream though
