I wonder if the mouth breathers on social media will call out Alex for bringing in people he has worked with in the past to his new team. Apparently that only happens when an executive goes from Cleveland to Toronto. Not to mention bringing Canadians in to replace titles previously held by 'Mericans.

It's fairly standard as long as it's considered a promotion. To me this seems more of a lateral move so might get some people upset. Kind of expected though, even when Tinnish and AA were pretty close. When I scouted for an agency at T12, Jays scouts didn't sit in the scouts section but in the 200 level (which was closed for the tournament). There were always 3 or 4 guys together, AA and Tinnish were almost always 2 of that group (for maybe 10-15 hours of the total tournament). AA also let Tinnish call out Brock OUA pick (and friend) Valeriote in the 2012 draft, which he only called out that one name. Obviously sang his praise to the media as well.

I don't have an issue with AA hiring Tinnish or anyone else from the Jays front office that he worked with before. It is common in every part of business for that kind of thing to happen. I was just poking fun at the people on social media who call the Jays "Cleveland North" because Shapiro dared to hire someone he worked with while with the Indians, and the people who claim Shapiro does not value having Canadians on a Canadian team when Alex is now infiltrating the American Braves organization with Canucks.

Short version: a lot of the casual Toronto fan base are insufferable.

The Canadianization of other teams is continuing apace, though. Currently hold the GM position with the Dodgers, multiple top-level positions with the Braves, president of baseball operations plus a VP spot with the Brewers, and assistant GM of the Cubs.

One day, the code blue will go out to activate all of these sleeper agents, who will then trade all of their best players to the Jays for PTBNLs.

It's a decent deal for them: they keep the bonus money, and go back into the IFA system, rather than becoming free agents.

They willingly accepted the money. Made secret deals under the table. Even if the agents did most of the work, these prospects had to agree to it. They should be penalized too. Not sure how, but if they make an example of the Braves GM, they should also set an example for the players.

Getting to keep their money and also sign another again. That’s not even a slap on the wrist. The are being rewarded.

They were 16 years old and in a situation where they have very little power. They should not be punished.

Yeah, if the league wanted to go that way they'd have to figure out a way to punish the agents without punishing the players, and that's a tricky issue that probably isn't worth wading into ever, when you can simply send a message to teams to stop instigating this kind of thing in the first place. It isn't really that much to ask to follow the rules the league establishes for itself, yet teams routinely prove they can't do it.

I wonder if this is a blessing in disguise. It's not like the Jays have had a lot of injury luck for years now. Seems like this group's diagnostic capabilities were iffy.
